We are really looking forward to having lots of guest here bringing the place to life! I am suprised by how everybody who comes here influences the atmosphere changing it and normally for the good!

Welcome to 2012 … It has been a busy time since we closed at the end of October. We have been planning things for this summer, which will hold some special challenges for us. These challenges should not have any impact on holidays at the Quinta beyond Hun sadly being away for most of the summer, contrary to our original plans.
Winter this year in the
Summer will start in May this year .. we have had to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt and will run to October.
We are sure many of you will have seen the TV programme Come Dine With Me, we are planning Come Dine at The Quinta for the last week in September… we are looking for 5 guests who are prepared to spend their evening sampling the cooking of their fellow guests and to have their best effort spread before their fellow guests. The winners by popular vote will win a rather nice prize! Are you up for it??

What a lucky creature … we will not be eating it !

On Sunday 8th April we will be holding our very first Naked* Easter Egg Hunt. .. How will you carry yours?
The event will end with a special “Easter” lunch.
All this at no additional cost to our advertised prices for guest or day visitors!

So who came to stay or visited at the Quinta da Horta in 2011?
Well over 150 people….
Almost without exception they are all such nice people that they are most welcome back next year.
We were party to one proposal of marriage, one pre-wedding tanning session, 2 honeymoons, 2 wedding anniversaries and 3 birthdays.
All but 13 went naked outside of their cottages (most of the dressed were the Yoga week people)
We had visitors from 23 different countries, long distance visitors travelled from the USA, Russia, Israel and Poland to the Quinta da Horta,
Most of our guest flew to Portugal, longest drive was from Sweden (or was it the Netherlands via EuroNat)
The majority of the guest nights were NON-British! British guest took 46.4% of the nights we had guests
The second largest group were guest from the Netherlands
Most of our guest spoke a second language to a high standard
Many displayed creative skills; cooking, photography, music, painting and drawing being demonstrated at different times
We had 5 guests travelling alone (one came back to stay a second time and brought her husband!)
8 young people under 18 stayed at the Quinta da Horta, the trip to Slide and Splash was probably the highlight of 5 people holidays!
A diverse and interesting group of people that made for some great evenings at the dining table!
A big thank you to everybody we had the pleasure of welcoming to the Quinta da Horta in 2011!
We are looking forward to welcoming another diverse group of great people in 2012! The Buns first guests from Austria, Australia and Canada are already booked………
